Common questions
Yes, when donor tipping is enabled. At checkout, donors see an optional tip prompt for Givebear. If a donor tips, 100% of their intended donation reaches your organization and Givebear earns only from the tip. If a donor declines to tip, the fallback platform fee applies to that donation.
Yes. There is no separate kiosk add-on or hardware subscription. Every plan includes the Givebear kiosk app for iPad and Android tablets. You just need a Stripe Reader or compatible card reader and a tablet. The kiosk fee is a percentage of each donation processed through the terminal, which you can see in the fee details on each plan card above.
When you sign up for Plus or Growth, your first 30 days are free. You will not be charged until after the trial ends. If you cancel before then, you pay nothing. A card is required at signup so billing starts automatically after the trial, giving you a seamless experience with no interruption to your account.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan any time from the billing section of your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades apply at the end of your current billing period.
Givebear passes Stripe's card processing fees through at cost with no markup. Online donations are subject to Stripe's standard rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Kiosk (in-person terminal) donations are subject to Stripe's in-person rate of 2.7% + $0.05 per transaction. Donors can choose to cover these fees so your organization receives the full donation amount.
The Free plan has no monthly platform subscription fee. The only costs are the platform fee on each donation (0% with tipping enabled, or the fallback rate if a donor declines) and Stripe's card processing fee. If every donor tips, your monthly cost from Givebear is $0.
